The penultimate internal SCAGC event of the season took place at St Ives in early August. In spit of the dire warning for wind and thunderstorms the weather remained reasonably benign and dry.
The battle for the Jubilee Trophy involved teams from SCAGC with the best 3 scores from the team players to count.
The day started with a full cooked breakfast, washed down with suitable beverages. The ‘Barkway Coffee’ would be seen to work it’s magic.
The course played very well, a lot of comments were made as the the improvements seen over the last few years. The greens were in excellent condition, running true and at a good pace.
After all players had returned to the clubhouse and refreshed themselves with drinks on the terrace the results were announced and the wine distributed. The two Nearest the Pins were won by Alan Wood and local Captain Michael Smith.

There were 3 different handicap divisions with the numbers split evenly.
The low handicap division was won by Ray Smith (37pts), the mid handicap division by David Francis (40 pts) and the high handicap division by Keith Fountain (35pts).

The result of the Jubilee Trophy was that St Neots were 2nd with 108 points from their best 3 players, out of a team of 8.
However the winners were Barkway Park with a narrow victory of 109 points from their full team of 3 players, proving the magic of pre-golf ‘Barkway Coffee’. The trophy returns to it’s spiritual home.
