On an unusually nice dry day at Links Newmarket GC the annual contest between Cambs and Bucks took place.
The day started in the customary fashion, Bacon Rolls and Beverages of choice.
Instead of the normal 16 players per side this unfortunately was reduced to 14 for each.
The course was in good condition but even with all the recent rain it was still quite dry, however it played well and a good enjoyable round was had by all.
Post golf all players retired to the clubhouse for a lovely dinner of Roast Pork, with a nice bit of crackling, followed by Chocolate Brownie & Ice Cream. Are these sort of dinners one of the reasons that we play in these matches?
The results and awards of the contest were presented post dinner by Bucks Captain Tony Jeffries and Cambs Vice Captain John Thompson.
The two Nearest the Pins were both won by players from Bucks, Paul Graves on the 3rd and Rob Barnes on the 12th.

Despite these magnificent efforts Cambridgeshire managed to win the Trophy 4 1/2 – 2 1/2. Tony happily presented to Trophy to John.
