Tuesday 3rd June at Ramsey GC was the venue for this year’s Herve Trophy, hosted by SCAGC
After the customary pre-golf ‘Coffee’ & Bacon/Sausage Rolls there was a 2 tee start in the rain, not something that pleased the early groups. The weather did brighten up after a few holes but the damage was already done for some.
Ramsey was in its customary fine condition and the Club and staff looked after us well throughout the day.
As the event was hosted by SCAGC there were the normal Nearest the Pins, but due to the generosity of Captain Chas there was a prize for each County on each of the Par 3’s.
The winners of the wine were Brian Sparkes & Richard Higgins from Essex, Brian Macdonald & Doug Stokoe from Herts and John Harris & Steve Whitney from SCAGC.
After all golfers returned to the Clubhouse for a lovely dinner, nothing seemed left on any plates.
The final resultwas that SCAGC failed to win a trophy, with Herts winning the Herve Trophy and Essex collecting the Wooden Spoon.
