3 Counties Shield
The 3 Counties Trophy against Norfolk and Bedfordshire was our 2nd trip to Norfolk in 3 weeks following our victory at Bawburgh in the Crocus Trophy.
The venue this time was Heacham Manor, a little further north near Hunstanton.
A nice sunny day greeted us with the normal Bacon roll and Coffee in the clubhouse beforehand.
The field of 16 players from each side was led out by the Captains/Presidents of the sides.
Heacham Manor is a newish course that is improving over time but is very different than it’s North Norfolk neighbours.
After a long day in the sun the dinner was served as a rolling meal as the last groups were 2 1/2 hours behind the leaders, some slow play in the centre of the field contributing to a long day.
There were 2 Nearest the Pins which were won by Peter Nightingale from SCAGC and Keith Whiting from the home county.
After all the scores were collated the winners were Cambridgeshire with 418 points with both Norfolk and Bedfordshire on 406.
