The resumption of the Cuba Trophy took place at St. Neots GC on Wednesday 1st September. This has been played for since 2012 after Monty Bridgeman and Peter Knight met in a bar in Cuba and arranged the annual match.

Customary ‘coffees’ and Bacon rolls were served before Captains Malcolm and Brian started the proceedings on an overcast but not too chilly day. There was some wind but we were well shaded by all the trees. The course was in lovely condition and was well enjoyed by all players.
After play the majority of players resumed the tradition of Jacket & Tie for the very tasty evening meal of a large pork chop with plenty of vegetables followed by Strawberries and Cream. Thanks must go to St. Neots and their staff for looking after us so well throughout the day.

The Captain’s Charity Nearest the Pins were won by Geraint Ingram from Hampshire and Greg Davidson from Cambridgeshire. Honours even.
The overall result of the day was that Cambridgeshire managed to retain the trophy with a score of 5 1/2 to 2 1/2.
