Unfortunately before the match today at Oundle GC there was a fatality on the course. Our condolences got the deceased’s family, friends and club members.
The event today was the Inaugural Match between The Society of Northamptonshire Golf Captains and ourselves at Oundle in Northamptonshire.
After meeting in the clubhouse and a lunch of sandwiches and chips the match commenced with President Peter and Captain Malcolm and their partners leading us off on possibly the last day of summer under cloudless blue skies.
The course was starting to show signs of drying out but was still in good condition and the Red Kite had a birds-eye view of the prowess of all involved. A nice breeze kept all players from overheating, but all were happy to finish and return for much needed refreshment.
After the match was over and a meal of pie, chips & peas followed by cheesecake filled us up the result of a 4 all draw was announced. This was quite fortunate as there was not a trophy to play for at this time.
We look forward to welcoming Northamptonshire at home next year.
Any suggestions for the name of the trophy should be passed to the Captain.
