It was the turn of SCAGC to host this year’s triangular match between Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Essex for the Herve Trophy.
Teams of 16, including a professional from each county, competed at St.Neots GC with all Stableford scores counting.
After a full cooked breakfast the teams ventured onto the course led by Simon Tansley(H), Mark Jones(C) & Kevin Smith(E).
The weather was not looking promising but with the exception of one brief thunderstorm which came quite close play was completed before the scheduled time for Dinner.

As is normal with all SCAGC events there were 2 Nearest the Pins with proceeds going to the Captain’s Charity.
These were won by John Annison (Herts) and Phil Smith (Essex).
After the lovely Dinner of Hunter’s Chicken followed by Cheesecake the results were announced with Hertfordshire gaining 469 points with Essex amassing 503 points being narrowly beaten by Cambridgeshire with 505 points.
The Wooden Spoon was presented to Simon Tansley (Herts) by non playing Essex Captain Peter Freeman, and then Simon presented the Herve Trophy to SCAGC Captain Mark Jones.
Thanks go to St. Neots for presentation of the course and the hospitality shown on the day. Next Year’s event is due to be hosted by Hertfordshire on Tuesday 30th May at Knebworth GC.
