Because a large number of new Society members attended the meeting the Hon. Secretary briefly outlined the situation.

Late last year the Hon. Secretary applied to 11 of our Affiliated Clubs for their approval to hold fixtures during 2014. For 48 years we have been granted course courtesy by all our Affiliated Clubs, subject to the date requested, was approved by the club, if not a different date was agreed. To the surprise of the Hon. Secretary and Committee the 3 founder clubs without any prior notice or discussion rejected our application.

Their Committee have decided in future only a few Charities will be given course courtesy during the year. If we wish to play at SWGC in the future a £20 green fee would be charged to all non-members of SWGC. The Past Captains of SWGC who are members of the Society were informed of the situation. They decided not to appeal against the SWGC Committee decision as in their opinion it was a cheap price to pay.

No reason was given why their Committee have made this decision. Past Captains of the Links GC who are members of SCAGC appealed against the Committee’s decision and their

appeal was rejected. We understand from the Club’s Chairman, their Committee have decided that no Society or Organisation should receive “free golf”. In future if SCAGC wish to play at the Links GC all non-members of the Links GC would charge £15 green fee.

Letter received stating the Management Council have decided that in future Societies cannot be offered course courtesy. If we wish to play at the Gog Magog GC a green fee of £20 for all non Gogs players would be implemented.

The Past Captains of the Gog Magog GC have lodged a strong appeal against this decision and we are waiting the outcome of their appeal due to be held in May.

The matter was discussed in detail including;

  1. Change to the SCAGC Constitution.
  2. Match Fee Implications.
  3. Approaching New CAGU Affiliated Clubs.

The conclusion of the meeting was to wait until the result of the appeal at the Gog Magog GC was known.

  1. 3.       Annual Dinner – Queens’ College, Cambridge.

General opinion received from Liaison Officers and members, the evening was a great success, especially the catering and service.

Only one complaint – white wine served warm and no white wine coolers on the table.

Hon. Secretary to discuss with Queens’ College later this month when a meeting will take place to agree the final account.

  1. 4.        Accounts.

Treasurer informed the meeting the income was down due to the departure of Royston GC and Waterbeach GC.

The 6 month audit of the accounts had not taken place due the Society Auditor having work commitments, this will now take place in June

  1. 5.       Any Other Business.

None received from the floor.

Meeting Closed at 12.20
