SCAGC v Essex v Hertfordshire Triangular Match.
The Herve Trophy was presented by Brian Herve the Essex Captain in 1967 and is the first County fixture the SCAGC played. This year our hosts, Essex Captains, decided to hold the fixture at the Essex GC just outside the town of Earles Colne.
Essex decided we should all play off the white tees, which made the course over 7000 yards, fortunately it’s flat, otherwise we would have had the air ambulance on standby.
The first match in 1967 resulted in a victory for Cambridgeshire, sadly in 2014 we came second to Essex who won comfortably with 462 points, and we recorded 446 points and Hertfordshire 426 points.
