The annual contest for the Society Tankards took place on a lovely summer’s day in October at St. Neots GC.
A field of 28 players started early, for SCAGC, at 10.40 only allowing coffee and bacon rolls for the majority as the bar didn’t open until 11 am.
The weather remained fine on a well prepared course and the players had a lovely day.
On return too the clubhouse the players enjoyed decent showers and a few drinks before the tasty dinner of Braised Beef followed by Pavlova.
After dinner the AGM was conducted, and after all the reports including a very happy Stuart showing off the Trophy Haul for the year the new Captain, John Thompson, was duly elected.
The normal nearest the pins were in play for this pairs event and they were won by local maestro Steve Whitney on the 8th and all around maestro Ray Smith on the 16th.
The prizes were presented by the new Captain, John Thompson. He then continued to present the prizes to Ken Snelling & Mike Wallis for 2nd place and then Stuart had to resume duties to present the Trophies to the winners Terry Cripps & John Thompson. Tankards2023results
I’m sure we all wish John a successful and enjoyable year in 2024, even if he doesn’t manage to captain the sides to the glory achieved this year.
