SCAGC win!

After a few years of domination by Norfolk in this competition SCAGC managed to narrowly beat them in Norwich yesterday.

At a lovely sunny Eaton GC in Norwich the 3 captains ( Terry Akers; Howard Maylard; Barry Page) teed the ball up at 11 o/c in the annual 3 counties match between Cambridgeshire Norfolk and Bedfordshire.

A lovely prepared course adjacent to the one of the oldest original clubhouses awaited the 16 participants from each side.

A 2 tee start helped all players get round without any delay so that the dinner of a very nice Lamb Shank could be finished before the KO of the England Tunisia match at the World Cup.

After all the scores were collated the final result was Cambridgeshire 459pts; Norfolk 454 pts; Bedfordshire 425pts.

The Norfolk Captain Howard Maylard then graciously presented the Shield to SCAGC Captain Terry Akers after quite a few years in their custodianship.

A return presentation was made from Terry to Howard of the missing part of the Crocus Trophy from the Norfolk/Cambs match at Middleton Hall 11 days previously.

Hopefully this trophy is now complete and we look forward to competing for both trophies again next year in Cambridgeshire.

Thanks go to our hosts SNGC and Eaton GC for a wonderful day out.
