Whilst not quite having the TV and marketing appeal of the other version, the contest between Suffolk and Cambridgeshire for the Ryder Replica is always a keenly fought affair.
It was our new Captain’s first match, while it was the last match for Suffolk’s outgoing President.
In a change to the traditional format there was a ‘brunch’ served beforehand, providing much needed calories and energy before the golf on a lovely warm sunny day.

The course was busy with numerous members and was in lovely condition. Our group enjoyed the pleasant walk down the fairways, others seemed interested on going on nature walks into the many trees and wild areas.
After all the hard work the players returned to the clubhouse for ‘Afternoon Tea’ – Sandwiches, Chips and Cake without the formal attire of Jacket and Tie.

This meant that most players got away a great deal earlier then usual, which from early comments seems to have been appreciated.
The result of the match was close with SCAGC beating a 7 man Suffolk team 4 1/2 to 3 1/2
New Captain Alan Wood is seen receiving the Ryder Replica Trophy for retiring Suffolk President Steve Finch.
