It was Cambridgeshire’s turn to host this years Crocus Trophy at Ramsey G.C.
Norfolk kindly brought both parts of the Trophy to this year’s battle after they were managed to be reunited after last year’s 3 counties match.
After some excellent organising the 10 matches were split into a 2 tee start starting earlier than advertised to allow for plenty of time for changing before Dinner.
The weather was once again pleasant with threatened showers staying away giving an enjoyable, if slightly breezy, day’s golf.
The course was in very good condition with more grass on the fairways than at many other clubs caused by the recent dry spell.
All players returned to the clubhouse in good time due to the earlier organisation but unfortunately the roast dinner still had to cook properly so there was plenty of time for relaxing in the bar beforehand. This meant that some people would not get home (fortunately?) in time to watch the football.
The match was won by Norfolk 6 -4. Captain John can be seen presenting the trophy to Norfolk Captain Peter who came along for the ceremony but was unfortunately not fit enough to play. Hopefully all will be well next year when SCAGC will try and regain the Trophy.
