Captains’ Salver
This year’s Captains’ Salver match between SCAGC, Derbyshire and Leicestershire& Rutland was held at Burton-on-Trent GC.
Last time we played in Derbyshire it was also at this venue, not a bad thing as it’s a lovely course, but the weather was considerably better.
A single tee start for the 16 players from each team followed Sandwiches & Chips with suitable liquid refreshments.
As an extra incentive there was a nearest the pin on the 18th with either 2nd or 3rd shot, but it had to cross the lake on that shot. It wasn’t won by a SCAGC member.

The players all returned to the clubhouse for a rolling dinner of Roast Chicken and the results were constantly updated as scores were returned. A major task as only 12 of the scores were to count for each team towards the trophy.
When all calculations had been done the result was that Cambridgeshire had triumphed with 363 points, followed by Derbyshire on 348 points and then Leicestershire & Rutland with 343 points.
