The annual match between SCAGC and the Norfolk Captains took place this year at Links on a cooler and more breezy day than the earlier heatwave. I’m sure this was welcomed by many even if the wind did make things a little tricky.
The traditional fare of coffee & bacon rolls started the day before a single tee start for the 10 pair a side match.
The course was in good condition despite the recent lack of rain, fairways were running but the greens were putting well. There were some good scores on the day with the PCC going to -1.
When all returned the meal of Chicken Breast followed by Apple Crumble was needed and appreciated.
The Captain’s charity Nearest the Pins were both won by players from the visiting team. Maurice Anderson on 3rd and Phillip Jonas on 12th.
The overall result of the match was that SCAGC defeated Norfolk Captains 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 meaning that Cambridgeshire win the trophy for the 3rd year in a row.
