Hertfordshire were the hosts for the 2026 edition of the Herve Trophy, which was held at Bishops Stortford GC.
After the customary Coffee & Bacon Roll the teams had a 2 tee start to enable players to return to the clubhouse within a reasonable timeframe.
The weather held better than the predicted rain with only 1 brief heavy shower. The course was in very good condition even though ‘winter rules’ were in effect. Not sure why.
After all returned to the clubhouse reasonably dry we were suitably looked after by the staff. A very enjoyable day, even if some of the SCAGC scores were not as good as hoped.
SCAGC did manage to win a trophy, unfortunately it was the Wooden Spoon which Captain Alan accepted with good grace.
The overall winners were the home county of Hertfordshire, with Essex close behind.
