The Jubilee Trophy, having formerly been The Challenge Trophy, was contested for the 6th time at The Gog Magog golf club on The Wandlebury course this week on another day of fine weather.
The day started with the customary coffee, bacon rolls and the all important Barkway Coffee’s masquerading as Morland’s.
A large field of 48 players took over the 1st tee for 2 hours to play for the 3 divisional prizes and the all important Trophy based upon team scores. Nearest the pins were operational again on the 5th and 14th holes. Plenty of opportunity to win…
The course was in very nice condition, as with most courses this year due to the ideal weather and hard work of all greenstaff.
Due to the large field there was quite a wait for the leading groups before all players returned to the clubhouse and enjoyed the evening meal of a Carvery followed by Lemon Meringue Pie.
The winners of the nearest the pins were Stanley Nixon from Ely City and John Taylor from Cambridge Country Club.
The results of the divisional competitions were Div.3 Greg Davidson from Ely City; Div.2 Roger Tacq from Ramsey; Div.1 Ian Sheppard from Cambridge Country Club.
The results of the competition were 3rd Cambridge Country Club; 2nd Ramsey 108 points and the Winners were Barkway Park with 110 points.
