The 1st match of the season under the leadership of this year’s Captain John Fuller commenced Monday 15th April at Girton GC.
On a lovely sunny, if still a little chilly, spring morning the field was led off by the Suffolk team of President Chris Briggs and Malcolm Crissell accompanied by Captain John Fuller and David Creek.
The weather remained fine all day due to the meticulous attention to detail from match manager Ray Smith. Maybe he should be in charge of team coaching! After a full days battle and 1 cold shower, there being no heating or hot water due to a broken boiler, a lovely filling meal of pie followed by cheesecake was enjoyed by all.
The overall result of the match led Captain John to present the Ryder Cup Replica to President Chris as Suffolk managed to win the match convincingly 7 1/2 to 1/2. See full result in the History page, but myself and Mark Jones were the pride of SCAGC managing to get a half!!
We look forward to next year’s match where hopefully we will avenge the defeat.
