Some respite from the heat at last for our furthest north trip of the year, this time for the Captains’ Salver match against Derbyshire and Leicestershire & Rutland.
The match was held at Forest Hill Golf Club to the west of Leicester and in it’s latest guise (having been altered a few times over the past 25 years) provided a fair test for our societies.
We were welcomed by dignitaries from the club and enjoyed a ‘9 hole brunch’ – not quite a full breakfast but entirely suitable before a round of golf.
The weather managed to stay dry for the leading groups with a few spots of rain (remember that stuff?) for those following on.
After a bracing shower and a few small drinks an excellent carvery was served and the results announced.
SCAGC members will not be particularly interested as the trophy was battled out between the holders for the past few years, Derbyshire, and the home society of Leicestershire & Rutland. Home advantage counted with Leics & R beating Derbys by 3 points – 345 to 342. SCAGC made up the numbers with only 320.SCAGC results 2018
