Another fine day for a SCAGC match, this time away to Norfolk at Middleton Hall on the outskirts of Kings Lynn, Ray Smith again claiming the controlling influence on the weather.
After the standard fare of Bacon Roll/Coffee (Beer) battle commenced with a 2 tee start on the not overly long course set in the old grounds of Middleton Hall which has now become apartments. It was previously a 9 hole course but is now 18 so it certainly helped if you were guided round as the layout could be confusing to 1st timers.
A nice touch was the half-way drinks provided by the club, orange juice or lager shandy, but I think some of SCACG could have done with something stronger to fortify themselves.
Fortunately the clouds stayed away and the match was completed in good time with Norfolk Captains overcoming SCAGC by 6 matches to 4.
SCAGC Captain Terry Akers seen here presenting part of the trophy to Howard Maylard. The other part was presented 11 days later at Eaton GC where SCAGC claimed the 3 Counties Shield.
There was some success for SCAGC as a nearest the pin and a nearest the pin in 2 were won by Stephen Bonnett and David Tomkins respectively.
