SCAGC mini tour 2018 – Day 1 Kent

The first installment of this year’s tour was a match against Kent Captains at Chestfield GC near Whitstable for the Claret Jug.

Everybody arrived in good time, negotiating A14/M25/M2 without too much difficulty, for coffee and a substantial lunch of Scampi & Chips. Locally sourced Shepherd Neame Master Brew was also available.

Due to the nature of the course a single tee start was used led off by the Captains and their partners as usual.

An undulating parkland course led us around this part of the north Kent with the high points giving views over Whistable, Herne Bay and the Thames Estuary.

We eventually returned to the oldest building used as clubhouse in the world for a few welcoming drinks before Chicken & Mushroom pie and Lemon Tart.

After all the closely fought battles on the course the eventual result was that the match was halved 5 – 5, Captains Mike and Terry seen here sharing the Trophy.  Result

The majority then retired to the local Premier Inn for a nightcap.
