The traditional season opener against Suffolk for the Ryder Replica was played at Girton GC in some quite nice weather as can be seen in the photo of the leading group.
The Cambs team was led by Vice Captain John Thompson in the unfortunate absence of this year’s Captain Stuart Watson.
A midday start was preceded by the standard fare of Bacon Roll and chosen libations.
The weather remained kind and the golf course played very well, it was hard to believe that it was closed only 2 days beforehand because of rain.
The contest was quite tight with the final result not known until the last group had returned to the clubhouse. The overall result was that Cambs managed to overcome Suffolk 4 1/2 to 3 1/2.

Post golf a few drinks and a fine Carvery followed by Apple Crumble & Custard was enjoyed by all.
The Nearest the Pins were won by Kenton James (8th) from Suffolk and Hugh Carlisle (17th), Girton President with local knowledge.
