The Herve Trophy is the oldest County match competed for by SCAGC, having been started in 1967 as a triangular match between Cambridgeshire, Essex and Hertfordshire. This year the tradition was continued as SCAGC hosted this year’s match on the Old Course at the Gogs.
The 3 Captains teed the ball up on a breezy day with thunderstorms threatening.
Eventually all 16 players from each team managed to negotiate the course, including a break for some as they heard the thunder klaxon (not everybody did), with some very good scores and some not quite as good.
The winners at the end of the day were Essex with a combined score of 495 points.

A new version of the coveted Wooden Spoon was presented by last year’s ‘winners’ Hertfordshire as the original was missing.
This year’s winners of the Wooden Spoon were Essex with 453 points, presentation roles reversed.
Unfortunately Cambridgeshire didn’t win anything as we came second with 471 points.
