It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Hamish Fleming who passed away Saturday 29th September at a hospice in Cambridge.
For many years Hamish was a staunch supporter and promoter of CAGU. He served as County Secretary, England Golf Voting member, MGU Voting member, and Seniors Captain.
Throughout his time he was known for his strong views on golf and ensured that CAGU was always strongly represented in all forums.
Until he succumbed to illness in the past months he was serving as Captain of Newmarket Links Golf Club.
His company and wisdom will be sorely missed and all those that knew him will mourn the loss of one of golf’s great characters.
A great many people have expressed a wish to have details of the funeral arrangement for Hamish. However it was his strict instruction that following his death that there would be no service of any kind and that his ashes were scattered privately. Many of would have wished to give him a send off but we must respect his wishes. In lieu of this may I suggest that we all take a moment to raise a glass and to reflect upon the joyous times spent in his company.
