The battle for this year’s Captains Salver was hosted by the Leicestershire and Rutland Golf Captains and played at Kirby Muxloe GC just to the west of Leicester.
As can be seen from the jumpers in the photo the heatwave had slightly abated.
A single tee start meant a rolling lunch of Sandwiches and chips with a distinct lack of ‘Barkway coffee’ due to the bar not opening until 12.00.
The course was in similar condition to many due to the recent lack of rain but the greens and tees were in very nice condition.

After the golf had finished the players retired to the clubhouse for a rolling Dinner of Chicken Supreme followed by Apple and mixed berry crumble.
The results were announced during Dinner due to the length of proceedings.
These were that Derbyshire prevailed with a score of 390 points, second were Leicestershire and Rutland with 368 points, narrowly relegating Cambridgshire to third with a score of 366 points.
Fortunately there was no wooden spoon to collect on this occasion.
