A big thank you to Mark for hosting Captain’s Day at Saffron Walden Golf Club this year.
The normal start of Bacon Roll and beverages was then enhanced by the half-way hut where various goodies and Pimm’s were enjoyed by all the players, some thinking it was preferable to playing golf.
Due to the large field it took quite a time for all players to complete their round in the nice weather, which was dry and not too hot.
The course was in excellent condition, as normal, and the greens were true but less than the normal pace experienced previously here.
After the golf and a very nice meal of Chicken Breast and Bacon Crisp followed by Fruit Crumble the members were entertained with a speech from ex SCAGC Captain John Latham, a Saffron Walden member.
There were nearest the pin prizes for all the Par 3’s, winners shown below. As can be seen from the photos the wearing of Jackets and ties was not required.
There were also various other Trophies played for on the day with the winners shown below.
