Captain Phil provided the Society members with a truly wonderful day at Haydon Grange GC to celebrate his year of Captaincy.
Helped by his wife Jean and two of her friends the whole day went like a well-oiled machine from check-in, to the after dinner presentation of prizes.
Haydon Grange in the wind and rain proved to be a good test of golf for all 40 players, especially the non- members of the club who found the greens a bit tricky!
The winner of the Captain’s Day Prize on count back with 39 points; Mervyn Pickard (Girton GC) 2nd John Cardwell (Brampton GC) and 3rd John Papworth (Ely City GC).
The winner of the best back 9 – Peter Jackson (Heydon Grange GC) and the winner of the best front 9 – Jim McIIroy (St.Neots GC).
The winner of the Liaison Officers Trophy was Graham Powell ( Abbotsley GC) well done Graham.
The Captain’s Charity raffle raised £280 and the silent auction for 4 people playing at the Links GC and raised a further £ making a grand total of £ . Captain Phil has asked me to thank you all for supporting with charities so magnificently.
I know we would all like to thank Captain Phil for his generosity in providing us with a great and memorable Captain’s Day.
