Fortunately a cooler day than the previous day’s record breaking temperatures at Bourn GC for the annual Cam Trophy encounter between SCAGC, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.
A suitable building site breakfast was enjoyed before starting in this 3 sided match.
The match was led off on the 1st by the 3 team leaders. L-R Eric Duckworth; John Fuller; Chris Foster.
We employed a 2 tee start whenever possible and all teams were back and suitably refreshed before dinner. There was some very good scoring and some not so good but the day was enjoyed by all concerned.
The two Nearest the Pins were won by Peter Coles and Maurice Palmer.
The overall result of the match was that Northamptonshire retained the trophy that Eric had forgot to bring along in the morning and was delivered during play by his wife. He now has to take it home and try and remember it next year.
Northamptonshire 469; Cambridgeshire 439; Bedfordshire 414.
This meant that Chris Foster had to collect the Wooden Spoon on behalf of Bedfordshire.
Cambridgeshire left with nothing.
