Captain Chas was back to lead the team for the annual Challenge Trophy match against Bucks. The venue for this year’s event was Girton GC.
As with all courses it was greener and less firey than over the previous weeks due to some recent, and much welcome, rain.
The Match Manager David Francis was Hors d’Combat for the day, so Interim Secretary, Girton Ex President, Hugh Carlisle took the reins.
The lack of hills seemed to confuse most of the Sussex players as some of the matches were won/lost convincingly.
The Nearest the Pin for Bucks was their Captain Bob Barnes and for SCAGC Mark Jones managed to claim the prize.
The final result of the match was that Cambridgeshire overcame Bucks 6 -2 to regain the trophy which Bucks Captain handed over with good grace to Chas.
