A treat for the SCAGC players as this year’s match was held at Beaconsfield GC. This 120 year old course had the benefit of fairway watering which was a novelty for our players, having endured the driest July for 87 years.
The clubhouse is due for an extension and was where the players started with the traditional Bacon Roll and various beverages.
The match commenced post lunch with not a drop of rain in sight.
The players were led off by the Bucks Vice-Captain, Tony Jeffries, and the Beaconsfield Club Captain, Nick Cray, along with the SCAGC lead pair of Captain Mark Jones and David Woods.
A nice afternoon was had by all, especially most SCAGC players before returning to the clubhouse for a dinner of Roast Lamb and Crème Brulee.
The overall result was a win for SCAGC 7 – 1. Another success under the leadership of the Captain.
Unfortunately the Bucks Captain had neglected to pass the Challenge Trophy to the Vice-Captain, so there was not a trophy to present. That seems like an ongoing theme this year.
At least the Captain does not have to polish or engrave the handshake.
