Society Tankards

The final event of a nearly full season was the Society Tankards was held at Saffron Walden GC in it’s traditional slot at the beginning of October. A field of 48 players took to the course on a thankfully dry and pleasant day. The pairings were pre-drawn instead of the tradition of drawing the pairs ‘on the day’. This saved players at the rear of the field waiting around for 2 hours, which surely is a bonus.

The course was in it’s normal superb condition even though we were playing preferred lies and the greens were not their normal 10+ on the stimpmeter.

Everybody managed to get round in good time and return to the clubhouse for the commencement of the AGM prior to the evening meal. The AGM continued in conjunction with the meal of Roast Chicken followed by Apple Crumble.

At the AGM we were presented with a list of provisional fixtures for 2022 which is shown in another post. Reports from the Captain, Treasurer and Secretary were presented and the new officers were elected. The handover of the Chain of Office from Malcolm to Mark occurred before the presentation of prizes.
