On the hottest day of the year so far SCAGC led by the new Captain Terry Akers took on Suffolk Captains at Felixstowe Ferry GC for the Ryder Replica Trophy.
The credit for the weather was claimed by both the new Captain and the match manager Ray Smith. Terry’s reputation for weather has a lot of other fixtures to withstand yet, whilst Ray’s record (for himself at least) is unblemished so far.
After a light lunch of the customary coffee (beer for the Barkway Boys) and bacon roll, battle commenced at 1 pm with this year’s Captain driving off in first official match of the year.
The following 7 pairs followed for a glorious day’s golf in the sunshine which was a welcome change from the weather of late.
Eventually after the highly anticipated meal of Fish’n’Chips the result of the match was announced with neither team taking the spoils as the match was halved 4-4.
