Kirby Muxloe GC near Leicester was the venue for our annual triangular match against Leicestershire & Derbyshire Captains.
The day started with a very pleasant lunch followed by a two-tee shotgun start.
The match started in heavy rain and continued the pour down for the next 5 hours.
The match due to the weather conditions sadly turned into organised chaos.
A number of groups walked in after 9 holes followed by others after playing 12 holes. Sadly, no one bothered to inform the groups playing on the far side of the course, so they played the whole 18 holes in torrential rain and strong winds.
As I was playing in one of these groups, I for one was not “a happy bunny”.
However, one of my playing partners scored 39 points, in torrential rain, with flooded greens and he even had two blobs on two holes. A fantastic achievement especially when his handicap was 17. Yes, not a type error seventeen!
So what formula can be installed to decide a winner?
It was so complicated I think “Einstein” would have had problems solving it.
The result with over 220 points went to Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire were about 150 points behind the winners.
