1st Match Victory & 1st Hole in One

Our newly appointed Captain, Phil Black started his year with a double first!

Bourn GC was the venue for our first match against Hampshire/Isle of Wight & Channel Isles Captains. The day started with perfect playing conditions, one could actually say it was “Stumpy Smith Day” beautiful sunshine with not a cloud in the sky.  The Bourn Club Captain, David Greef started the day by welcoming both teams to his club and hoped we had a splendid days golf, which we certainly did!

The course was in wonderful condition although the greens were a “tad slow” until you got used to them. Bourn have made some excellent improvements to the course, which surprised many of our players, who have not played the course for several years. Our new County opponents proved to be a great bunch of guys and a great day was had by all, especially when Captain Phil achieved his FIRST hole in one, only to be followed by another hole in one by one of the Hampshire players…. Unbelievable luck for Captain Phil, as they both shared the bar bill!

The food was excellent, especially the main course…”Cow Pie”… which is a Bourn GC speciality.

The result, another FIRST for Captain Phil, SCAGC six and half points Hampshire Captains one and a half points.

Congratulations Captain, for your FIRST hole in one and your FIRST SCAGC victory.

The Captain wishes to thank all of his team for a FIRST class performance.
